Symbolism

An alchemical union is a “marriage of opposites”. Some may consider it a balancing of the masculine and feminine principles in an individual; the “ying” and the “yang”; or spirit and matter. It is representative of a new birth of divine consciousness.

Our logo consists of the greek capital letters “alpha” and “omega” wrapped in an oroborous. The alpha and omega represents the beginning and the end, fitting well with the oroborous eating its own tail. Our initials (AU) can also be represented by the greek capital letters with the “omega” being flipped upside-down.

The mission of Alchemical Union, as an integrated auxiliary of Unity of Divine Creation Ministry, is to support UDCM and organizations like ours, rooted in spirituality, to make the best use of technology to help us accomplish our visions. Fixing the volatile nature of spirit into our use of technology, and raising it up for the benefit of all.

Foundation

Alchemical Union was created in 2018 and has been one of the most integral parts of UDCM since its founding. Our ministry was formed out of its founders’ shared vision for how spirituality could be integrated into our lives to create communities, and ultimately a world, of people living together in peace and harmony while supported by the abundance that nature provides.

While one of the main tenets of our vision is to create physical communities of people living in proximity to each other, the way that we found each other was online, living hundreds of miles away from each other. And the number of people connecting online via shared beliefs rooted in spiritual principles is growing exponentially. Social media and online communities, despite their potential pitfalls, can be a blessing and help people connect and build their spiritual vision – and this is something that the world can greatly benefit from these days.

Since none of our ministers lived near each other, and since the people that we met that shared our vision ended up being placed all over the country – and even on different countries across the planet – it behooved us to build strong foundations to support our community online.

Alchemical Union built this foundation nearly from scratch. It was obvious to us how important this was, and how beneficial this type of organization could be to other communities like ours.

Experience

Our minister Brian has been teaching himself to code for over 25 years. And 17 of those years come with professional experience building websites as he’s worked for a marketing agency. With his experience, Alchemical Union has helped build the online presence for UDCM and its members by:

• Developing a custom content management (CMS) system that is used for UDCM’s website as well as The House of Markus Fellowship (another integrated auxiliary of UDCM). It has many features including (but not limited to):
  • Event Management
  • Educational Courses and Lessons
  • Media management and media libraries
  • Contact Management
  • Membership Management
  • A document generating system with online signatures
  • Fundraiser Management
• Implementing private, self-hosted online community forums as well as internal organization management forums using Discourse. These can integrate with our CMS for a single user-base.
• Integrated open source, self-hosted, private support centers using Zammad and other software.
• Implemented bookkeeping solutions using open source software like Akaunting.
• Set up private networking with shared storage for collaboration using VPN-like software.
• Managed the servers, hosting, security and domains for our projects.
